1. Introduction

This document is a guide for authors to understand the journal methodology and what kind of manuscripts are expected. In addition, some rules are also given in order to improve quality and standardization. Figure 1 illustrates a high-level representation of the journal methodology, which uses Open Journal System (OJS) platform. All author submissions are handled and stored by the online OJS system. For each journal edition, there will be a Chief-Editor responsible for managing submission. Once submitted the paper, it will be assigned to three reviewers. They will have one-month deadline to return the review comments. Based on that, the Chief-Editor decides whether it deserves a resubmission or final decision, following the journal internal rules. Note that reviewers do not know who are the authors because REABTIC works with a double-blind review process

Figure 1: High-level representation of the review process.
Therefore, to follow this document rules and tips is important to avoid resubmissions, which delays your publication. When there is a resubmission, the Chief-Editor assigns the manuscript again to the same reviewers evaluate whether the comments were made accordingly. In this case, the manuscript will be only accepted if all three reviewers return agreeing to accept the paper. In contrast, it will be rejected. Each manuscript has one resubmission chance before giving the final decision. Authors that received resubmission status are required to make considerable improvements on the manuscript. This includes language, format, and technical comments. When making the resubmissions, all improvements should be made as well as describe how the comments were targeted with a secondary document such as the example in Appendix 1.
In the rest of this document, we first briefly describe the journal aims and scope in Section 2. Then, Section 3 provides the main contacts to be made when you find in trouble. Section 4 provides the details about the decision times. In Section 5 are the manuscript format and content. Section 6 provides a checklist to authors before submitting the manuscript. From Section 7 to 9, there are specific rules for authors concerning publication and ethics.

4. Decision Times

Various factors in the publication lifecycle, including reviewer responsiveness and author revision time, may affect the overall outcome. However, we have to maintain an average time about one month to give the first response to the authors. The final decision depends on the quality of the paper. If the manuscript is very good, the final decision comes already with the first response, accepting the paper. In the case where the paper has to be improved, it can take about one month to authors improve and two weeks to receive the final decision (reject or accept). Lastly, if the paper is very bad, the final decision is to reject and comes with the first response (one month).

5. Manuscript Format and Content

The manuscript text format must follow the SBC (Sociedade Brasileira de Computação) template and uploaded with PDF file extension. The template can be found in sbc-template. Manuscripts which are not according to SBC template will not be published. A prerequisite for accepting the manuscript content is to have:
          Abstract
          Introduction
          State-of-the-art/background/related work
          Results
          Conclusions
          References
*Papers must have a minimum of 10 pages and maximum of 30 pages to be accepted.

7. Ethics in publishing

In our peer-reviewed journal, we expect the coherent and respected network of knowledge. Authors should make a reflection about the work quality as well as the institutions that support them. Although peer-reviewed papers are one of the most appropriate scientific methods in our vision, it is important to agree on expected ethical behavior for all parties involved, including the author and journal editors. As part of our goal to the protection and enhancement of REABTIC, we have the responsibility to support in all aspects of publishing ethics, especially in plagiarism.

8. Declaration of interest

All authors are requested to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationships with other people or organizations within three years of beginning the submitted work that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence, their work.

9. Submission declaration

A manuscript submission implies that it has not been published previously or elsewhere, the publication is approved by all authors, and the manuscript is not available in some electronically proceedings or online directory. The exceptions are only made for academic thesis, lectures, and abstracts documents.
Please, note that extended conference papers are accepted. However, all conference submissions must contain significantly new material to be under consideration at REABTIC. If submitting an extended conference paper, please, explain the details and outline the differences between the two versions.
