Estratégias de agendamento para dispositivos móveis no BOINC

Resumo

Executing tasks on mobile devices brings some challenges that must be addressed, such as devices heterogeneity, limited CPU power, limited memory, short battery life, mobility, and intermittent disconnections. The goal of our research project is to analyze medical images using the computational power offered by mobile devices. We chose BOINC as the executing platform, but as BOINC is a tool used for volunteer computing, it does not solve all the previously mentioned challenges. In this article we present BOINC-MGE (Mobile Grid Extension), a BOINC extension that incorporates two new task scheduling algorithms to ensure the completion of tasks while using efficiently the energy available in the mobile devices.
